I love this man's fighting style. He's still young in the sport so it makes sense he lost to Francis (barely) and Jon jones. I think he should fight Aspinal and the winner of that fights for the title. Ciryl's striking is elite. If his grappling continues to improve he will be the best in the division.

As for the blown knees, neither you nor I know the extent of his damage. What we do know is that he recovered from his injury very conveniently as long as he got freed from the UFC contract.

He didn't really show it honestly. Spivac had no entries, no set-ups, no footwork to cut the cage, shot a telegraphed takedown a mile away and gave up afterwards, didn't have the striking to fall back on either.

@@GoodStuff1992 Its the Achilles heel of every Judoka in MMA who doesn't learn Wrestling. If they can't shoot to create contact, a superior and elusive striker will outclass them badly on the feet. Really only the top Abdulmanap fighters like Khabib, Islam etc. have adapted by learning Wrestling and weaponizing their athleticism. I don't know if Gane beats Aspinall but I guess we'll find out at some point. Regardless, you may not agree but IMO this fight further proved just how bad Heavyweight is. Jones was always really good, but man a division this shallow has really helped him.

I think curyl could perform way better against jones but lost his balance and was surprised with less common takedown. He probably trained to defend trips and double legs all camp or busy playing fifa. I think a rematch could be very interesting but sad to see jones trying hard to protect legacy even though he’s clearly still on top of his game

A performance from heavyweight like that makes you wonder how the top tier light heavyweights would fair against guys above their division. For longest time, the heavyweights were believed to be the rightful holder of baddest man on the planet title until Daniel Cormier made a case for himself by beating Stipe and Lewis in spectacular fashion. Followed by a quick and cake walk performance by Jones on Gane. All the three heavyweights mentioned were the guys who made Ngannou looked human.
Makes me believe he actually trained his take down defense in the Jones fight but Jones is just that good

I visited Paris for the first time two weeks ago. The Sacre coure was the happiest I’ve been in my life. The French crowds are awesome. Ciryl deserves respect .
