With all the distractions and pressure that come with a fight of this magnitude, its hard to be ready for it unless you been through it. He gained extremely valuable experience last night, and next time he will know what to expect and come in way more focused and dialed in. His hunger was the difference in the end. And thats no knock on glover, given his age and more so the fact he already got the belt(which a few years ago even he had to have had doubts he would get it), its nearly impossible for his to have that same hunger he had in his previous few fights(being he was so close to getting his first title).

  • Czech part (20:20) translation for anyone interested: Interviewer - First of all congratulations on your win. Do you have any plans for a celebration? Will they be as crazy as the fight was? Interviewer - Are you aware that this is the biggest thing that has ever happened to the Czech MMA scene? Jiří - As I said... Should I speak in English or Czech? I kinda don't.... It's not that I don't care but the main thing is that I notice my mistakes. When a person allows to put their mind into it. What happened, why did it happen and realise that he can do it better next time and he knows that he can do it better. That has alot more value than people having me as an idol, yeah? It's more of an honor to show people my martial arts in the best promotion and get the belt. That is an honor. Interviewer - Fans expected you to win by KO but you won by SUB, is there a new dimension to this? (I don't really understand the question... To be completly honest :D) Jiří - As I said, you have to show that you can do absouletly anything to get the win, that you can sacrifice anything, even if its in the first, third, fourth or the fifth round after you had your face cut open. Interviewer - Last question, can you imagine what your win means to Czech MMA? For its popularity and expansion. Jiří - You tell me. I don't know I honestly belive that I'll be a motivation for people to train efficiently, have more self-confidence and not train stupidly for a milion hours like I use to do but to train to push yourself, to notice yourmistakes, to push yourself, to in-comporate it into your lifestyle so I can win in a fight under cameras in front of thousands.

Idk how he had it 10-8 for any of the rounds tho becuz both fighters didn't have a dominating round like that to get 10-8 so at worst is Tex gets a draw if all 3 judges gives Jiri 10-9 for the 5th round but Tex was 110% winning the 5th round before the choke! • Been watching this sport for years. Something extremely special about jiri. Makes me so excited, I hope he holds onto the belt for a while. He's only going to improve. 29 years old. 29 wins 27 finishes or something.. It's insane.

  • Translation of the Czech interview section since I think it might be interesting for others. Q: First of all, congratulations to your victory. What do you think the celebration is going to be like? Is it going to be as wild as the fight? A: (as in video) Yes, yes. We prepared everything. Guns, ships, everything. For celebration.) Q: Do you realize this is the biggest success of Czech MMA you have achieved. Did you have chance to think about that after the fight? A: Look, how I said. I don't really [care]... well, not that I don't care, but for me the main thing is that I know what mistakes I have made, really. If a person is following his purpose he gives to it, what has happened, why it has happened and realize it and knows he can make it better next time and it will be like that, that is more valuable than people think of me as someone. It's more of an honor to show people my martial art in the highest competition in the world and take the belt. That's honor for me. Q: Is it other new dimension in that people expect you to win by KO and now you have won by submision? A: How I said. You have to show that you are willing to do anything for the victory, that you sacrifice anything to it. If it's in the first, second, third, fourth or fifth round after having a face cut, it doesn't matter. Q: Can you imagine what it is going to mean for czech MMA now, for it's growth and popularity? A: You tell me. I hope and believe that it will be a motivation for people, but in a sense to train properly - no futilities, not to fool around, to gain more self-confidence, not to train milion hours some useless way as I have done many times, but train the way to move forward, realize mistakes and move forward, incorporate it into my life style, win in a combat right under cameras in front of thousands of spectators. Period.

    • A note on the first question - it is pretty clear from how he says it, that Prochazka is kinda joking, especially about the "guns" etc.

  • Now Jiri is the finest example of what mixed martial arts is as well as Glover too as well as others but there's nobody like Jiri. Not Conor McGregor or Colby Covington or Jorge Masvidal or any of these other fighters that are disrespectful and don't honor the mixed martial arts like it should be. Jiri is a very special person. Congrats on the hard fought win.

  • Jiri can be truly great, I knew there was an off chance hed get knocked out cause he often leaves his chin wide open, but he seems to know this and will possibly fix his issues, seems like the type of dude to come back and improve every aspect of his game, specially with CCC helping him.
