Fighter Timeline: Francis Ngannou

2022 ж. 15 Қаң.

After a rapid rise up the heavyweight ranks, Francis Ngannou faced the first setback of his UFC career by losing to Stipe Miocic in his first shot at the title. Ngannou would earn his way back to a second shot against Miocic with another string of highlight-reel knockouts and this time claim the heavyweight belt at UFC 260 in the rematch.

    @Chris-vt6nl@Chris-vt6nl Жыл бұрын
  • Amazingly, his total fight time from his last five comes to just 7:54 from a possible 125 minutes. That’s right. It has taken the African heavyweight less than eight minutes from a possible two hours and change to beat those guys above. We’re not talking bums here, either. So, are we sleeping on Ngannou? Are we falling into the trap, yet again, of hopping on the hype train and getting all carried away with ourselves? While I’d hardly describe Gane as anything resembling a hype job, people are underestimating just how effective Ngannou is

    @princeangel6934@princeangel69342 жыл бұрын
    • I don't think anyone is sleeping on Ngannou, everyone respects his power and I think most people recognize that he seems to have increased his skillset in general, especially as shown against Stipe last time. It will be interesting to see him deal with Gane; Derrick Lewis basically had him running across the octagon in their fight, but I think Francis is a little smarter and will be able to cut him off better. Still, I feel like it can go either way if Gane can create some distance with some well-placed kicks. Either way it should be a hell of a fight.

      @viljamtheninja@viljamtheninja2 жыл бұрын
    • @@viljamtheninja You are right and am not underestimating Gane either. Gane is a phenomenal striker and something we have probably never seen before in this division. Scrap that - we have never seen anything quite like this guy. He moves like a welterweight, has a razor-sharp fight IQ, and is pretty much the blueprint for future heavyweights. Still, I must give the edge to the champion. To say that all Ngannou has is power would be very foolish, especially if you have been paying attention over these last few years. Since being exposed as one-dimensional by Stipe Miocic at UFC 220 in 2018, Ngannou has evaporated every fighter put in front of him. Including Miocic, who he knocked out in phenomenal fashion in 2021. The fight has all the makings of a classic and I cannot wait to see how it unfolds.

    • @@whytrap4901 Mans right in my eyes, its basic striking really. What ninja doesnt understand is francis isnt going to chase Gane. He is going to plant his feet in the middle and throw straight shots to the body and straight counters to the head. He has two inches of reach on Gane, and unlike lewis he has that dangerous jab and cross. I think Gane doesnt have an answer for this and it either results in a boring fight where Gane stays too safe and Francis retains the title via a few big moments or Gane attempts to adjust like Stipe did and pays a similar price. Gane has very good clinch work, if he takes risks they could pay off but it is very very risky.
