May KZ have his last fight in Seoul and get one last win before he retires. He's a legendary fighter with a full metal heart, and he deserves to go out on one last fight in front of his people. Bless this man, and all he has done for MMA and specifically Asian MMA. We love you Chan Sung Jung.
He’s still a top 5-10 fighter easily. I don’t see a need for him to retire right now after he took so much time off and is still one of the best. But it’s his life, respects to him if he feels that way.
i m korean ufc big fan, n thx for talking about KZ like this
@@9614cp I appreciate your positive outlook but at this point there’s no way he can win a belt now
@@scarzandy436 He can still make a lot of money and support his family so maybe he could move up to 155, the weight cuts seem to drain him. You only get one body, may as well put it to use while in good health. Seems more of an emotional thing after a loss, than him being physically incapable of competing. But I’d completely understand if he retired, he’s a legend either way.
@@scarzandy436 And I’d like to see him at ONE FC fighting in Asia maybe. He could compete for the belt there. Idk what his contract situation is like right now though.
Holy shit, I’ve never felt this bad for a fighter after a loss. Alex asking Zombie if he was sure he wanted to continue right before finishing him, him saying he had to consider retirement after the loss and breaking down crying after Joe left the octagon, then his wife (?) coming in with a really worried look on her face. I’m too young to have experienced most of Zombies career, that’s how long he’s been around, but the bits I saw I really loved. Hoping to see him get one more win before he hangs up the gloves for good, cause this wasn’t even a fight, it was a one-sided beatdown.
Yeah, that was his wife, who also left the octagon in tears. I love watching Volk fight but fuck me was this utterly depressing. This really was one of these fights where the odds makers got it 100% correct. This was a massacre to the point where the arena was silent. You could hear everything Volk's corner was saying, you could hear all his strikes. Just really sad to see.
Yeah I really felt bad for Zombie I wanted him to win, but it was painful watching the end of round 3
Dude has been fighting for 13-14 years.....battles too he's been in...he needs to consider retirement....nothing to prove for sure....most fighters won't last that long.... current champions included.
@@MrDioXIII Yup. The crowd was cheering for TKZ for a minute and then the beatdown started. Probably should have been a doctor stoppage, if we're being honest.
it was mismatch tbh idk wtf was going on in matchmakers' mind when they decided these two had to fight
This post-fight interview was definitely emotional. Huge congrats to volk for having a good performance and prayers to the korean zombie, the man is a warrior and future hof
something that the translator didn't say is that tkz said he knows he probably will never be champion and doesn't know if he will ever be motivated enough to enter the octagon again
The dude is a monster. Never been knocked out and even getting totally anialated, still moving forward. He got wins over Dan ige, frankie Edgar and Dustin Poirier. He has the most beautifull submission in ufc history (the twister) and been in the game for decades. The guy is one hel of a warrior. To bad Volkanovski is just a magnificent specimen made for fighting. Good job on both these guys.
1:18 Zombie said he got to know he wouldn't be able to be a champion.
12 years of UFC career, 2 title matches, 2 fight of the year, 1 submission of the year / the first ever twister. He is a legend and will be remembered.
1:18 Also korean zombie said " I feel i can never be the champion right after this moment ".. was heart breaking moment😭
What he said is true tho
@@wyattgathje7925 yes its perfect
It sinks my heart, yes.
What got me was after the fight. Don’t know if you caught it, but when he dropped to all fours after talking to Joe? In Korean culture you bow when you are sorry, or bring dishonor. He was apologizing to his team right there, looked like to his head coach Eddie Cha in particular.
@@Skw1813 Unfortunately, not in this case. This was him simply devastated. Also the "bow" or apology doesnt really happen nor was in context for the situation you are mentioning.
Love the Zombie! Feel bad for him. But he’s still a legend of the sport.

@Tommy Gun stfu khamzat actually won not like tkz, who took a big L and got everyone feeling bad for him
@Tommy Gun somebody is salty they lost money 🤣
I met him in person in 2013 as a 12 year old, he signed my shirt and I told him that I wanted to see him hold the belt one day. Stuck with him through the Aldo loss, then he had to serve for 2 years and yet he’s done things in that octagon many fighters can only dream about doing. The twister, the 6 second finish, and so many amazing fight of the night performances. Zombie was a go getter, a warrior, a soldier, he never quit in there no matter dire the situation, took his beatings like a man, and he was respectful to every fighter and the fans. A real example of a great fighter that never won the big one but he won the hearts of the people, gave a us a real reason to enjoy watching fights regardless of the outcome.
For a sec, I thought he went to jail once I read, "he had to serve for 2 years...".
what a comment. huge respect for KZ
Massive respect for TKZ. He’s a soldier in every sense of the word.
You made me tear up a bit man
KZ had 8 times general anathesia surgery for 15 years fighting like a zombie. Mentally, physically strong person. Now it's time to say goodbye to him. Huge respect for TKZ. Thanks legend!
Zombie is a warrior and an OG, respect
zombie and dustin porriei both have similar career , 2 title shot and 2 stoppage
Hold on, I’m crying brother
It's even sadder than the Tony/Gaethje fight 😭
my eyes got ankle picked
Korean Zombie is one of my favorite fighters ever and it hurts me to see this. Volk just proving there are levels to this.
When i saw the look on his face at the end of the 3rd i was like no way this is not a doctor stoppage. when i saw he wanted to keep fighting it made me really emotional. This man is a legend and one of the best. Much love to the Zombie you warrior🇰🇷🏆
I find it incredibly stupid when they ask the fighter if he wants to continue of course they'll never say they wanna stop and be called a coward, every time a fighter needs to be saved their Corner and referee and everyone around them fails to save the fighter, same with the Ortega fight.
@UClr2I9yM6_gGmJxdRGVABXg he's a tough guy, a legend, and he gave his best efforts
The Korean Zombie got me into watching UFC, he will always be my favorite

Korean translator forgot to translate the most critical part of Jung’s speech, especially his last sentence. Translation of Jung’s last sentence: “I have come to realize that I can no longer become a champion. [If this is the case] I am not sure if I should continue.” Meaning: I’ve fought for 15 years with a vision of becoming a UFC champion. That vision has been shattered today. (Heartbroken) More accurate translation of his initial sentence: “I felt like I ran into a wall [Alexander] that I cannot overcome…”
As one of Korean, as one of Korean zombie's fan, today he showed us what we should do. Regardless of the result, he have been completely committed himself to this match and he did everything to win this game. I respect him more from today and i feel grateful for him. 너무 너무 수고 많이하셨고 최선을 다하신 모습 너무 존경스럽습니다. 감사합니다.

He may not have won a UFC title in his career but he's put on some of the best fights the sport has seen. Everyone loves the zombie and that says a lot. A true legend - you've done Asia proud, Jung.
"I was in good condition and wasn't tired. I thought I was ready, but it felt like there was a great wall in front of me. Now I feel like I can never be a champion. Maybe it's time to stop" I've been watching MMA shows for almost 20 years and never became this emotional before. KZ has been fighting in UFC for 9 years and probably this was his last shot to be a champ. His post-fight interview somehow reminds me of our life. You do everything you can do to make your dream come true, but sometimes you realize it might never come true. Then you think maybe it's time to stop. Such an extreme frustration he would have felt there. All his UFC colleagues he fought 9 years ago are now all gone. All retired or kicked out already. He is the only survivor. He is a hero. Hope he doesn't stop there and continues his journey. Deepest respect for Korean Zombie.
Not only just that but its a new generation of fighting which sadly is passing by Korean Zombie. Then the military service wasted his prime and made the road to the belt even harder, just unfortunate circumstances. If the military service thing never happened and if he was still young it may have been a different story, Korean Zombie then could have attained a belt.
TKZ is a relic from an older era of the UFC. He's a legend no doubt but the game has evolved. I think he should retire after this.
Yeah that’s life
Hurt to see tkz and his wife crying at the end.
HE DESERVES IT SINCE HE WAS TRYING TO STEAL THE CHAMPS GOLD AND MAXS OPPORTUNITY

Much love and respect from Ontario, Canada Korean Zombie. You truly are an inspiration and a warrior. Thank you for doing what you do. One of the toughest guys I’ve seen before.. also the walkout to “Zombie” by The Cranberries gave me goosebumps.. Nothing but all the respect to you.. bless! 🙏🏽❤️
Toughness in its physical form.
Part that translator missed: 1:17~1:22 "I am starting to realize that I may never become champion."
The translator also missed the zombie saying after he feels this way after every loss.. but "For the first time, I feel like I can't become the champion anymore so I will need time to assess" You did Korea so proud, keep your head up legend.
The Korean Zombie is a legend and I've looked forward to every one of his fights since he came on the scene. Not every fighter becomes a champ, but it's even rarer for a fighter to win the hearts of the fighting fans.
Zombie's a legend, nearly in tears watching him at the end, Volkanovski was incredible though, fought perfectly, patient and relaxed, arguably P4P best in UFC, lovely to see the respect he has for his opponents too.
As a long-time Korean fan, I would like to thank coach Eddie Cha for creating a new fighting style for him to stay in the industry for a long time. It's a great achievement to have been in a contender position for as many as five years with one fighting style in MMA, where trends change frequently. Whatever he does after his fighter life, I'll support him
That was the saddest beatdowns and saddest losses I have ever seen for a fighter. Especially, because I've been a Korean zombie fan when I was 10, now I'm 21. Always hoped he would hold a title, but to get shut down like this in a title fight after years of hard work is so disheartening. Hope he feels and gets better. Pretty old for a fighter's career, but still young in life

I'm a Korean as well and I wanna tell you guys about why TKZ said it that way. I don't know if you're aware of this but here in south korea, He is not just a fighter but a successful youtuber and businessman by which I mean He's making a lot more money with his business than He does with fighting. I think that's the main reason He said it that way. up until a couple years ago, He had to fight for his family, as a father of 3 kids but now things are totally different. If you're financially stable, you don't wanna keep fighting. I respect his decision and root for his future.
The translator missed something: After talking about how after each loss he considers retirement he said that he now knows that he's never going to be champion so he doesn't know if he has it in him to step inside the octagon again.
He said that he deliberately omitted that part...

This is what I love about mma and martial arts in general, the respect and the warriors’ heart/courage. I loved Joe Rogan calling out Stephen A for demeaning the fighters and not turning this into the NBA and boxing where if you’re not Lebron or Pacquiao, you suck kind-of mentality. Zombie: Well, I've felt more confident than ever, my body and my condition was better than ever, I wasn't exhausted either... but it feels like I've come across a wall I cannot pass. Joe: What do you do now... do you go back and reassess, give us your thoughts on where you go from here. Zombie: Right now, it never feels great after a loss but there's been doubt and thoughts of giving up on the back of my mind. We'll see as time goes by but... I'm realizing that I cannot become champion anymore, that's how I feel. I don't know if continuing this career is the right thing for me.
His fighting challenge, which started like a zombie 12 years ago, ended like a zombie.

I was rooting for Volk but I felt so bad as zombie was just getting dominated out there. Zombie defiantly deserves the belt for the long career he’s had, but “if you deserve it, go get it.” Sadly Volkanovski was just too much for him.
