Aljo vs. Volk would be really unfaire towards the rest of the Bantamweight devision. The devision is so stacked and Aljo only defended the title once. He should stay in his lane for a bit before going for a second belt.
People are forgetting the only reason Aljo wants this is because he’s practically best friends with Merab, who is rising up and has no intentions of fighting Aljo. But with Volk talking about moving up, the whole thing is kind of a sh1t show.

You seen the difference in power between Dustin porier vs max the pop Nd power behind those punches was so obvious. Max and volky cut massive weight so they could’ve been easily fighting in 155 but 145 gives them more advantage especially volky fit his size. I can see max going up a division for his frame and naturally he is around 180. But volky even tho use to weight around 214 in his rugby days and rn walks around 190 but cuts to 145 like max I can’t see him in 155 dominating those guys like he does in 145. Those few pounds difference Nd especially on fight nights when they rehydrate guys get 10-20% of their weight back .

Damn did I miss something? I never knew Aljo was even considering challenging Volk at 145. I want to see how he does against TJ Dillashaw before I really consider how he'd do against Volk but I doubt he'd be successful in any meaningful way. With that said I think I could see Aljo being even better at 145 considering he walks around way heavier anyway.
he has said it for over a year. his training partner, merab also fights at 135. he would move up if merab gets that title shot, so he wouldnt fight him

I'd be interested in aljo going up but he needs to defend the belt a few times first because his own division is very stacked and he's only defended 1x. I typically only like to see people go for champ champ when they are defending a lot in their own division and competition starts to lack.

Volkan is just too good. I thought it was just a bad matchup for Max but looking across the division, NO ONE is capable of beating that Volkan we just saw. He's p4p the best fighter, period.
