Watching these really gives you an idea of the amount of pressure UFC fighters deal with during a big fight week. It’s not just train, cut weight & rest while you mentally prepare. It’s a gauntlet of interviews/appearances, weigh ins, press conferences & public workouts with speeches, all while starving yourself. This would by far be my least favorite aspect. I get that it’s all to build & sell the fight. But holy hell

I think we as fans have seen that these guys from Dagestan are something different and special. When fighting is all you know from the time you were born, you set yourself apart from the rest. Their community, their brotherhood, their faith/culture, and their atmosphere all combine to create the perfect fighter(s). Even the altitude these guys live and train at makes a huge difference! I’m equally a fan of Volk, but looking at this fight realistically, I really don’t think Volk is winning...
Method: cut a ton of weight to be oversized. Chain wrestle till they are too tired to fight. Win. It's really not that special. Russia is also very well known cheat-country. Wouldn't be surprised if they are on junk or use some kind of other junk to cheat weight cuts. But whatever blows up your skirt, I guess..

I may not be a fan of every Aussie/New Zealand fighter, but those dudes show out. Brad Riddell was a soldier this week. Izzy don’t have to show up, but he’s there for support. True brotherhood and I love it.
This is proof that you don't need to go all Conor on your opponents to generate interest. Islam and Volk have a healthy banter between them, and they are both convinced they can win this, which is precisely what they should think about it at this stage.
