Almeida has shown me what truly boring bullshit grappling looks like. I used to think that guys like Islam and khabib were boring, but now I can appreciate their grappling more. At least they tried to finish the fight with either ground and pound or effective submission attempts. Almeida had FULL MOUNT and did fuck all, literally sat there and did nothing while the ref told him to work.
I agree, Almeida has atrocious grappling. He did nothing with having top mount for 5 rounds, he belongs in ADCC if he’s going to refuse to strike with opponents.

Guys, I'll try to summarize here for those of you who don't know what Brazil is like, here we support our country's fighters no matter who they are against, it's like a World Cup so you can get an idea, and there is also a lot of pressure here when someone loses, which is often even ezagero, but obviously we like other fighters too, but we would never support a foreigner than a Brazilian. And many fighters sometimes mock the fans or talk bad about our fighter, we hate that, a recent example was Brandon Moreno, and when it came to the fight they threw everything they had at him, that is, never disrespect the fans or one of the our fighters, always be charismatic like some fighters who fought today, or like Strickland is, and even commented on our country and fighters. I don't blame almeida, I blame the UFC for allowing this. Every sport has rules put in not only to protect the players, but also to create an interesting and diverse experience. That's why in basketball there's goal tending, three seconds violation, a three point arch, etc. UFC should do something about this

It wasn't an exciting fight but a valuable experience for Almeida to go 5 rounds against a dangerous guy 30 pounds heavier than him. On the other hand refereees should stand up fighters instead of shouting multiple times "Get to work!"
Almeida should do something with full mount. Usually standups happen when it’s like full guard and nothing is happening, not when the fighter takes the back or has full mount and is literally in the best position possible to finish someone on the ground

My guy trying to pump up the crowd like he was about he has given a barn burner performance. Kudos to his strength but I feel like wasted performance that won’t get him in talks of a champ fight. No momentum in my opinion. Capitalize on the moment especially when you’re in such a dominant position.

Only other fighter I can think of that’s subbed Lewis is DC and we all know how special he is. Just a note though, that was when Lewis’ back was messed up as well compared to now where he’s a lot more physically fit and doesn’t tire as easily.

So far throughout Almeida's mma career he is so good at avoiding the striking game so he can turn the match mostly into a grappling fight in where that's is style of fight. It will be very interesting if he could keep this up facing the top all around fighters at heavyweight. He fights like Chimaev or Khabib for a heavyweight.
