  • It is arguable that the triangle from the back is a greater position of control than the triangle from guard (which is what most of these were). You also have "wrong-side" triangles and so many more. Grappling in MMA has more room to grow, amazingly it is still in its infancy. Still great performances with all of these triangles.

  • The thing I love about Ortega's triangle against Diego Brandao is how subtly he positions his hips. Look how much space Brandao's shoulder has at 8:48 when Ortega locks it up initially. Brandao is in the position, but has some wiggle room. Yet Ortega doesn't lock it in 100%, he's still angling his hips to get a better position. By the time 8:51 rolls around, he's got the perfect angle. Beautiful.
