    • those illegal hits to the back of the head? yeah, “crazy” Islam walks around 200lbs and Volk ended fight 1 on top beating him… most success from a fighter. this is why he shouldn’t of taken a last min fight, plus Islam needs 2 days to recover because he’s bigger than guys that fight at 170lbs let alone 155!!! Islam needs every advantage, because he’s not as good as he tries to say he is. if he fought all guys who walk around 200lbs. he’d be a joke

    • @@hankhillstricklandpropane4134 I don't remember this many KOs at 155 in the last three years. The top submission artists Islam and Charles had TKO/KOs this year. Gaethje hasn't had a KO since 2020. 2021 had Gaethje/Chandler. 2023 had Gaethje/Fiziev and Turner/Hooker for an intense three round decision war. Even the unranked '55ers brought spectacular violence. Diego Ferreira with that monstrous overhand on Michael Johnson, Drakkar Klose with the first slam finish since I think 2020. BSD finishing all three of his fights this year. Elves Brener had a wild KO and a war with Guram. Matt Frevola, Bobby Green,Drew Dober. Lightweight was carnage top to bottom this year.

  • Josh Emmet's one was most devastating shot of this year. Makhachev's setup was though the best. He went from low mid to high in matter of minutes. He literally adjusted from Oliviera to Volk in 9 days. Champion for a reason.

  • Islam and Adesanya's knock out of Volkanovski and Peireira, respectively, are coin toss for me. Imagine the pressure these two was carrying during fight night; Islam's desire to erase all the controversy in the first fight and having to face the same guy who had nothing to lose on days notice, while Adesanya was on the verge of losing to his arch rival for the 4th time. Both guys came through it and beat their rivals in spectacular fashion.

    • None, that's why it's great. I'd put it at the same level as O'Malley vs Aljo because people were expecting Aljo to have a good night on the ground vs him but he got slept. But we kind of know that the only way O'Malley is going to win is by KO so Islam's KO is probably even more unexpected.

  • TKZ KO was amazing because of the context. His retirement fight, going out with a fire fight like a brain-dead warrior, Max proving he has KO power, and the send-off by UFC and TKZ fans after.

    • ​@@rhinerivia1456 It's not recency bias at all. That was easily the hardest non-heavyweight/light heavyweight one-shot KO from a punch maybe in UFC history. Bryce was on the ground convulsing. I think you're greatly underestimating how rare a thing that is. Reactions like that usually happen from knees or headkicks; not punches. And especially not at Featherweight.

  • Alexa Grasso's offensive/reactive grappling is so good man - you think she's just gonna box with you but she's so fast that she's got a sub locked in before you know it - we saw it in the second fight too, really disrupted Shevchenko's game plan with those heel hooks and knee bars

    • Shevchenko also timed that spinning kick very badly and utilized very bad range, reminded me of the spinning kick that got got Rockhold full mount over Weidman and was the beginning of the end for Weidman too. Same kick, same bad timing, same bad range, same result, title loss.

  • I drove down from Toronto to Boston for the O'Malley fight. I've only experienced that type of atmosphere once before in my life and it was when Edwin Encarnacion hit the walkoff homer in the wildcard game. It will be a lifelong memory - thanks Boston crowd! What a great year, looking forward to some more great moments next year.

The UFC has a reason to promote these guys. Now look at Josh Emmett. He’s never been a star and he’s 38 years old in a young man’s division…lost his last 2/3. He’s not going to be fighting for a title. Not much reason to promote him
