  • You know, I don't usually get caught up in the drama and storyline for these events(and I still remained reasonably detached from this one), but this brief presser was a good reminder of how much is going on behind the scenes that we do not see. There was so much that went into Khamzat missing weight by the margin that he did, from accepting a fight in September vs. October, to the doctor recommending he stop cutting and get rehydrate, etc. His weight was likely much closer to being on the target weight of 171 before these things took place. All that to say, while I still would like to see someone come in on weight(as a former fighter, this is something that is important to me), I don't think the backlash is completely warranted. He's never missed weight before, not even(to my knowledge) for his wrestling tournaments for the last decade and a half. I understand the fans and fighters displeasure with the situation, but I also understand what lead to it. And, like he said, fans are fickle. He cares about his team, his family, and his career. And I can definitely respect that.

    • exactly man. The 7 pound narrative is overblown. On last night of weight cut you can easily gain 5-6 pounds by just drinking water and having a decent meal or two. It was probably 1-2 pounds before the doctor stepped in.

  • "If you want, I can go squeeze his head off again" absolute rofl I've always watched Khamzat through the lens of thinking he was playing a character, and I didn't like his attitude at the weight miss, but seeing this has restored my confidence in him. I took off that lens and tried seeing him totally believe everything he's saying, and it checks out honestly. I liked him alot before 279 and am happy to see he really does have integrity. Now I reckon the reason he's fighting as on oversized WW is a long term plan to secure the triple belt as he's said twice now. He wants all three up to LHW, and why not the lightest first while you're young and can cut easier. I know some of you will judge me for drinking the secret cool-aid here but I think this guy is the real no bullshit deal. When he talks about fighting a war, he might just be talking literally. When he says he can take anyone, hels the champ and everyone else is just a matter of time, he is being extemely confident accidentally just by being blunt and honest about his feelings. And from the looks of things so far, he might be right. Ok Khamzat, you got me. I might be wrong, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you're a genuine guy, I believe you can be champ and you got a fan. This is what I needed to see. I'd be really intrigued to see Kevin train with him.

Khamzat was so heavy the fight couldn't even be sanctioned. Obvious he is being favored and hyped it ruins the sport this was a joke where was the scary grappling against burns a guy who came from LW. Anyone with burns skill and Holland size would have shut that shit down who knows Holland may have defended it better with a camp. You can't just go into a fight with a grappler with no work. Keeping all that in mind he still disrespect diaz the guy who showed and made weight. You can't shit talk your opponent after you almost died before you could even make it in the ring with him. Not to mention he didn't put in the same cut as EVERY FIGHTER on the card. Nothing but a bum if Oliveira is stripped over .5 khamzat should have been removed from the card.
