  • When Colby said he in the presser that he was going to make Jorge QUIT. He delivered exactly what he said he was going to do. There was a Point in round 4 where you see Masvidals entire mentality just give out, He realised he was 4 rounds behind, couldnt hurt colby, couldnt stop him, and was getting destroyed.

  • This interview shows how spent Jorge was after the fight. Physically, emotionally, exhausted. Colby is indeed cardio beast and well deserved the win. Still, no shame putting it all out there, Gamebred Masvidal. Winning, losing, that's fight life. Respect to both of these bad arse warriors. Godspeed!

    • Yeah he was emotionally spent even before the fight. Like literally. He hasn't been enjoying this whole build up. He didn't even look so confident coming into this fight, like he did against Ben Askren and Nate Diaz. He knew how good Colby is, and how much he was putting on the line. He probably regarded Colby pretty highly as a fighter, though sub-conciously..

  • I honestly never seen Jorge this defeated - physically and emotionally. What a performance by both of them. A well deserved win by Colby's insane wrestling skills and endurance, but still huge props to Jorge for staying strong, putting up a good fight, and making the distance despite the loss.

People also forget Jorge iced Cerrone when Cerrone was in peak form. Cerrone was 12-1 in his last 13 fights and had only lost to the champ when he ran into Jorge. Cerrone was coming off 3 spectacular finishes including the first to ever knockout Matt Brown. Jorge has his stripes. He was just never champ.

  • Masvidal got handled in every aspect of the fight. Covington threw and landed more punches, was more accurate, out wrestled him, had better cardio etc. If the fight went on for more time, Masvidal would have been finished by Covington. Masvidal needed that one punch k.o.but Covington isn't going to let that happen.

  • I've been a fan of Masvidal since his street fighting days, I'm sad for him man. This fight was about more than just money... it was for pride, respect and rivalry.   • Colby winning was inevitable but I thought Masvidal did pretty good. He wasn't giving Colby the chance to submit him at all. He was doing alright against Colby with his stand up and managed to score a knockdown too. He was exhausted but he endured and survived the pressure that comes from a fight with Colby Covington knowing how energetic he is with his cardio and world class wrestling.

    • The cardio wasn't the problem. Masvidal was hopeless on the grind and used all he had to survive the fight hoping to land something. He threw a few knees had a counter punch that hurt Colby, but Colby hurt Masvidal more times. A marathon runner would look the same way, just helpless to get up. Getting choked, but not enough to tap, does tire out anyone also. Wrestling and also getting choked is not easy.

  • This interview was well after the fight was over and the results were given. Even then you could see Jorge was still breathing heavy trying to recover. He's a great fighter but he simply didn't have the cardio to go toe to toe with Covington. Few if any can. He put up a good fight though.

Colby has great lay and pray wrestling hopefully we get a Colby vs khamzat in the near future assuming Borz beats Burns. There are levels to wrestling I feel it's the strongest martial art. Borz wrestling is next level compared to Colby.

  • Unfortunately he got out boxed too so wasn't just the wrestling. He did good damage to Colby though and his wrestling was actually better than everyone expected, respect for putting up a good fight
