Not to mention that her fight with Valentina was probably the hardest fight for Valentina in her division while Joanna did not bulk up any weight for that fight. She is a real strawweight queen. Rose lost all her legacy in the last fight with Esparza.

Its never been true to begin with. Even though their first fight was a razor close split decision, many were hyping Weili up as a wrecking ball who was going to dominate the division. The close decision was completely lost on the fans, who instead thought the swelling on Joanna's face told everything about the fight. But, Weili has been more active than Joanna and has made visible improvements to her game while Joanna hasn't fought in over 2 years and I don't expect her to comeback any better than she already was, if anything she might comeback worse due to the layoff and age/mileage. Whoever wins though, gets the shot against Carla.
@@madgavin7568 Very valid points. Joanna is a legit world champion in Muay Thai though. I don't think she'd want to get back against Weili if she didn't feel improvement during her trainings. She did other things in the meantime but was always training on the side.
@@albertog4319 I think its more down to Joanna's gameness if anything. Joanna always wants to fight the best, she doesn't take easy fights. Its also because she really wants to become champion again. She's a bit like Aldo in the sense where they loved being champion and took their title losses quite hard. For Joanna, beating Weili is the most logical choice to get another title shot.

@@jonathansoko1085 I just rewatched it and I definitely see her winning it but I also see why it went to Weili. Joanna undoubtedly won the third and I gave her the first. The second round is shaky but the late kick and her obviously stunning Weili could’ve pushed it her way but Weili cracked her with hard shots throughout the second. I gave the fourth to Weili and I think she clearly won the fifth. Weili winning the fifth round and the damage she did to Joanna is what won her the fight.

Judges saw joannas forehead, thats it. The reality is, that could have swelled up that way after one punch. It was not an accumulation of punches that caused that. But the judges see forehead, make a decision. And it was wrong

@@NoahCanFB Not necessarily. There are other people in that division that could get a titleshot. People that are actually already ranked, unlike Joanna. For the same reason anyone coming off a win fights someone coming off a loss. It happens routinely, particularly when the person coming off a loss is coming right off holding the title. Joanna hasn't had a win streak since 2017. One single win over Zhang (who's coming off losses herself) -- after a two year hiatus and multiple losses -- shouldn't warrant a titleshot.
