On this day in 2014, Dan Henderson and Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua met for a rematch of their Hall of Fame fight at UFC 139 in 2011. Once again the pair lived up to the hype and won Fight of the Night honors in front of the Natal crowd in Brazil.

2 absolute legends. Hendo was so good that he didn't even need to cut weight. He made 185 very easily at times but chose to fight at LHW. He wasn't even a massive MW either.
@George Washington How does that relate to my comment? Lol.
@@sukhdevr3489 That’s a bot right there. It’s all over KZhead.
@@sealion2029 He actually has videos though, he just repeats the same things like a bot.
@Wazy4K Shut up.
Hendo is one of my favourite legend fighters. The original champ champ before Conor came along. I hope he gets inducted into the Pioneer Wing in the HOF this year, he deserves it.
You're thinking it's an early stoppage and then you see Shogun fall back and you're like yep good stoppage.
Hendo was arguably the best UFC fighter to never hold a title in the UFC. Always entertaining, and his destruction of Michael Bisping is one of the hardest knockouts in history.
I would agree with that argument sir.
Hendo is one of the goats. Look at his resume, has anyone had a better list ? His losses are to the top guys only. Hes the man.
@@capcomfan82 He should've been born in 200 B.C. he would have been a legendary gladiator
Winning the PRIDE title was just as important, they arguably had better competition than the UFC back then
i mean he was the first double champ, i think even winning the ufc title doesn't top that
first fight was iconic, one of the best in ufc history
Looked like Shogun had it sewn up for a minute there.
Hendo the gladiator, not very technical but he was strong, solid, vicious, with a powerful right hand and some of his losses are questionable. I won't forget this legend, shogun too.
Bro u cannot forget about shogun lmfaooo
Poor Shogun fought TRT Hendo twice...
Dangerous Dan. His right hand follow through was insane. The way he could rip through you with that thing was ferocious. He aimed for the center of your head LOL not your face. He hit so hard. What a Legendary fighter.
This was an incredible fight. The first one was an instant classic, and this one was as good as sequels get. I could have sworn Hendo was unconscious in this fight. This was just a few months after his chin was finally cracked for the first time against Vitor. I was worried for his chin, especially after the first war. He is one tough SOB. Dan had many great comebacks. Even some of his decision wins in PRIDE were huge comebacks. He looked dead against Ninja, Bustamante, and Kondo, but he dug deep and made something happen in round 3, which ultimately won him the fight. But his best comebacks came at the end of his career, over Shogun and Lombard. I felt bad for Shogun, watching him collapse after the KO. He fought so well, but everything fell apart in seconds.
Shogun was already in a TKO position, but those finishing strikes were almost entirely to the back of his head.
@Wazy4K shut up
Yes, it hurts ones soppy mangina to see such a thing, wot wot, grumble grumble.
I was looking for this very comment to see if anyone else noticed.
U guys realize it has to be the direct back of the head right those were to the side of the back of his head
@@italianstalian331 That's laughably false. Those were directed squarely at the back of his head.
Henderson was actually knocked out in round one on the ground for a split second he went flat. Herb dean let him continue. So many fights are stopped right there. Glad they let it continue
No matter how old Hendo is...if he hits you with that clean right it's not gonna end well.
Yeaop, that clubbing right is almost the only punch in his stand up game, but it works for him because he gets the distancing proximity for it down to an art.
@@stu3775 he's a brawler but he's technical.
@@madextreme2682 True, though I would add that his experience out weighs his technical abilities.
@@madextreme2682 Technical brawler is the right term.
No he's more like precisioner puncher, if you going to rewind he's always trying to set up the right hand but always ends up in crossing arms.
That was a crazy back and forth I thought Hendo was gone for sure
Right Hand H-Bomb is a legend for sure.
Despite an impressive career, Shogun's been brutally finished more times than just about any other top ranked fighter. Falling over while trying to sit up after this fight, being elbowed while standing unconscious against the cage when he fought Anthony Smith, tapping to strikes without realizing the fight had already been stopped when he lost the title to Jon Jones. This literally looks like the stuff in movies where the corner throws in the towel in slow motion while their fighter is being beat to death.
I really thought Shogun would even the score against Hendo when he was knocked down but in the end Hendo added Shogun to his list of KO wins. These 2 are truly legends. Hats off to them in respect! 🙏
What a great fight this was
A lot of legendary fighters, trunks with advertising, that pride/UFC Clashs... I miss old times
UFC should upload more of these classic fight recaps videos. These are arguably better than full fights.
Man UFC has been amazing forever. How can you not be a fan of this sport?
Legends
Two legends for sure!
To think Bisping defended his belt against an even slower and older Hendo is pretty crazy. Almost got KO'd three times as well
With one eye 👁️...
Both Are Great Fighter
Who is SCREAMING like that? Good lord.
Henderson my favorite fighter. He had true grit.
The clubbing right hand pulled Hendo through yet another one, amazing.
Hendo survived some heavy shots that would have put nearly anyone else out.
I Remember watching this live a few years back. Was very tough fight for both these guys. I felt like Hendo got flash KO’d at least twice before landing the H-Bomb(to the beak too!!) off the clinch. Herb Dean gonna Herb Dean. I don’t think he saw Dan go out in the first. Fair play to Dan., sad night for Shogun.
Best damn match up in mma history period. The back and forth between these two is just hard to match man
A guy like hendo is the reason made me love the ufc
That was fucking brutal!
Esse foi o único UFC que eu fui, foi TOP demais, evento super organizado, parabéns.
That thumbnail almost looks like shogun hitting shogun lol. The first fight was crazy. The second fight i felt bad for shogun, he fought really well and then he got his nose blasted if I remember correctly.
This is the UFC to me
Shoguns nose got real f***ed up from that right hand of Hendo, so well timed off the break and using the momentum. One of my fave KOs ever.
I’m still devastated by this loss
I think Hendo has one of the funniest instances of chicken legs in UFC history in this fight😂😂just another accolade of many.
My god that screaming 😂
Endo is my all time favored fighter he's a real warrior...
3:00 that scream
Esse cara tem uma marreta no lugar da mão
You'll never really appreciate these fights if you didn't get to see them live watching the replays not the same
I was on the edge of my seat the whole time .couldn't tell who would win 😱😱😱
omg what an insane fight
Dan hendo was a killer
99% of referees would have stopped the fight at 45-46 secs to 49-50 secs seconds. Props to Herb. Their fights were legendary.
Wow 🤩
Hendo was a monster
Good ole heavy hands Hendo
Ótimo luta😄👍
BOOOOOOOM
This was epic as fuck
Felt so sad for Shogun.. he was winning this fight then… gets caught by the infamous H-Bomb 😔💣
Dan steel got them h 💥 good upper cut.good fight.
Gah hendo and shogun are legend but hendo is just a beast man to do what he did at his age. Shogun was one of my favorite fighters growing up watching and loving pride and I’m so grateful to have been able to train with him. To this day I still can’t believe how damn strong shogun was. Never in my life wrestling as a kid to adulthood have I been dragged too the ground by a single arm drag as I was by shogun lol usually I know nobody can drag me down with just one wrist held by their one hand but shogun literally pulled me down into his guard like I was a baby and immediately went for leg locks which luckily knowing shoguns moves watching him my entire childhood into adulthood I was able to defend it lol I got a guillotine on shogun but no bs his neck and head was too damn big to be able to even get close to squeezing enough to get a sub on him lmao
Baita luta, mas cadê o replay em câmera lenta do nocaute?
Excellent right hand to finish the fight off the failed takedown attempt.
dude Rua has heart he was done u could see when he go up seen it was being waved of and was like idgaf anymore and fell over ahah
The first fight was a bloodbath
Dan: best KO ever (Bisping) AND, best ufc fight ever (Shogun vs Henderson 1)
That cameo of the witch from the wizard of oz.
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
They should just post the fight
The h-bomb is for real
The way Shogun fell back after the ref stopped it…was that a delayed knockout?
Either that or AAA acting skills.
He just had a guy pounding on the back of his head. He was dazed.
Not really he was already fucked up he tryed to stand back up but his legs were jelly
His nose was destroyed after that punch. Go look it up
@@michaelthomas8147 Came to say it. That's why Hendo even stopped punching. That or because the ref moved infront of them
Really didn’t like the way Shogun fell onto his head there. Great stoppage by Herb because he was seriously concussed.
Suerte de principiante, solo asi pudo ganarle a Shugun
I heard Eddie Alvarez's wife there at the end
Did you notice Hendo always trying to timing his right hand and always ends up in crossing arm.😅
Good call from Hendo to stop when he did.
Shogun tava com luta ganha e deu mole Dan Henderson pultz
Who is screaming once sho goes down
Their rematch is a bit forgotten.
Dans right was the best!! These guys were the creme of the crop!
That's must have been even sweeter smoking shogun like that in Brazil hahhaha
This is a fight that had to give Shogun a CTE for his trouble
Most people fail to mention Henderson was way past his prime in this fight and still beat rua the first time and was little older in the rematch time was not on his side
2 ogs
He was the only american whom didnt get booed during his walk on. Made in America
Just looks so much better without the cheap liking crap ufc kits
Henderson is one of my all time favorite fighters, but there's nothing pretty about the way he fights. He looks so stiff. His power was just absurd, he had more than enough to knock out heavyweights when he wasn't even a very big middleweight.
Dan Henderson is the Tim McGraw of UFC.
Well I thought he was the Aunt Jemima of the UFC, but I guess I stand corrected.
Wasn't this the first non title main event in history ?.
People clown Bisping for Hendo 2 and getting brutally dropped twice but come on, only 2-3 years before, Hendo was still deadly with that H-Bomb knocking out guys like Rua, losing split decisions to guys like Lyoto and Rashad. My only issue is that in no universe should #13 be gifted a title fight, story or not. But then again, we do live in a universe where #11 O'Malley fought Yan and #11 Khamzat fought Burns so maybe that's another area Bisping gets too much stick for.
So smart.. set the right up with a fake takedown/clinch transition
Hello my frnd
He landed like 2 heavy shots to the back of the head of shogun :(
You skipped round 3-4
shogun hadm rocked and was delivering clean shots on the ground, herb let it go, didnt evem get in there, shogun gets dropped, dan delivers a few back of the head shot, and dean was just itchin to stop it. dont tell me dean didnt want hendo to win.
well did you see shogun try to get up and immediately fall flat on his back?
@@kieranl5249 when the fight was stopped he just fell back, he didnt attempt to get up and then fall. granted, he was obviously rocked, and not feelin well haha. not saying it was a bad stoppage, im just saying imo there was a different criteria that each fighter needed to stop it from the looks of things. also, herb stopped the fight before shogun fell back, so he clearly couldnt have taken that into consideration as he was stopping it.

That was a quick stoppage at the end there.....
0:53 waw
TRT Hendo just had enough juice left in his system to get the W
Henderson should’ve finished his career as the Undisputed Middleweight champion. Bisping always got bad decisions like Silva, Hamel and Hendo 2
All Henderson did was keep his hand cocked and plod forward and then unload at the end of every round. He should've tried actually fighting.
Bisping against Hamil was a pure robbery...but against Silva he won 3 rounds (1,2,4) and he rocked him and dropped him...and against Hendo he won 3 rounds but the fight IMO should be considered a draw cuz first round was 10-8 ...in both ways he would have defended the belt. Both fights were classics though.
@@michaelthomas8147 Yes, you are clearly qualified to criticize him, with yer big womanly breasts, love handles & mouth.
@@SPIDERM0OSE The judges felt the same way and that's why he ended up with a loss and no title.
Heard a great song about Conor McCgregor recently. Its Called: "McGregor Irish Hooligan", MUST LISTEN! Its Funny!
That right hand was deadly
😳
Herb Dean confused as fuck
First one better
