Same thought, he should either diet and then cut to 205 which he can make easily since he's 230, or he should bulk up 20 more pounds because tonight could've easily been won if he was stronger :) technique was good, Derrick is just much bigger and stronger and rushed him and made it easy.

I feel for him; such a humble and hard working human trying to live his dream. Maybe keep training, maybe go down to 205. Now, I think he shouldn’t have engaged when Lewis picked things up with the high kick. I think should’ve retreated instead, stay on the out side and try to pick him apart

Not easy to stay at range and pick him apart in the small octagon. If it was the larger one then yes. I think he should definitely sharpen up the skills first before thinking of a lifestyle change and weight cut to 205. Main benefit is being faster than a number of these other heavyweights, he will lose that if he just cuts to 205 without adding in all the tools and more rounded/educated game. Train more/add more skills, then possibly cut.
The purpose of the high kick was to corral him into the cage, Derrick was pressuring him to stifle his movement and poured it on him when he got in

I really hated the narrative the media and even the UFC were trying to promote with this main event. They were obviously trying to capitalize on the political tension between BLM and the Police Force in America. From what I saw it has been nothing but respect between these two guys so the fact that people are trying to spin a racial debate is really disgusting and in my opinion, takes away from people who actually experience racial injustice.

Small octagon didn't help Chris in the strategy he wanted to do. If the strat was to pick Lewis apart and make him swing at air, difficult to do when he can just bully him into a corner and knock him out. I think he should sharpen his skills up more so that he's fighting like someone in the lower weight classes (good jab, body shots, better movement, ground game etc) and then either think about moving down to 205 or bulking up a little bit so he's not completely outmuscled. I don't think he's got the freak athleticism of Lewis, Gane or Ngannou, who are either just so much faster, explosive, or hit like trucks, so the cardio route might be the way to go.
