    • It’s the side effect of his ear surgery from years ago….. selective hearing. 😂

      @KitHavok@KitHavok Жыл бұрын
    • One of his ears (I believe it is his left ear) is deaf. He told the story a long time ago. In his Boston years he was jumped by a gang and got the 'sh____i/t' beaten out of him. Since that beating the affected ear had significantly reduced hearing. It is assumed that that was an important cause in him developing Meniere's disease. He then had that experimental surgery in L.A. (which did not work) to help with that disease, where they completely cut some nerve to the ear, which then presumably led to him becoming completely deaf in that ear. When you have limited hearing in one ear, and you have background noise, for example, during a press conference, you do have a hard time discerning what is being said. If he sat in a quiet room with one interviewer, he would hear much better. I speak of my own experience. P.S.: And it can vary substantially in terms of the voice of the person who you are listening to. So, somebody who has such hearing problems may, for example, have a hard time with female voices as opposed to male voices and vice versa. Add to that that many interviewers are not native speakers of English and have at times strong accents and it makes it even more difficult to hear for the person affected.

Boxing is now a joke. UFC is heading in the same direction. People are hopping off the train because it's being steered off the tracks with too much bias nonsense and an unprofessional boss. Ranking mean nothing. Too many characters. Not enough legitimacy. Keep pumping money into this corrupt organization.

  • @3:40 Yes Dana it was indeed based on round one on the scorecards. All judges gave Round 2 to Yan, Round 3 to Sean. Round one is based on if you value volume strikes over grappling . The rules state damage deciding factor, but if equal then who won the striking, then if equal then grappling, and if all those are equal, you resort to aggression/ control. This decision was exactly what all people watching thought, a controversial split decision edging both ways. I personally scored it 29-28 O'Malley too. Close damage but O'Malley had more significant strikes more often to me round 1 and new rules stop you there. But I totally understand someone giving it to Yan for the striking + grappling edge for sure, however he didn't get in ground and pound or submission attempts, merely gained control time without damage, striking or grappling attacks. The takedowns themselves fall below damage and striking evaluation under new rules. All 10-9 rounds are not the same, but shame the scoring style is one borrowed from a 10+ round Boxing system. The sheer stat differential in the third in Omalley's favor, landing 40 significant strikes to Yan's 15, rocked Yan and landed the biggest damaging shot of the entire fight, that knee (cut the entire length of eyebrow on Yan)... baffles me how some people are claiming 30-27 Yan... Absurd. 29-28 for either guy is the correct decision, entirely hinging on round 1. Man I ramble

  • If the UFC or someone else see this message, i want to say about the controversy about the O'Malley Yan fight, that a fight like that especially so close like that deserve an immediate rematch. Obliviously three rounds wasn't enough for them especially for someone like Yan, personally i ask for an immediate rematch before the end of the year or early next year, 5 rounds in the Apex. The winner gets the title shot, make it happen, i don't think Sean deserve the title shot after a so close fight like that.

Yan got the takedowns, pushed the pace with agression and octagon control, the only part that was close even close to being in O'malleys favour was damage and that was pretty even.

    • Oliviera pulled guard in rd 1, essentially throwing the fight against someone like Islam. Unless he's majorly hurt, Islam is NOT going to make a mistake and get submitted on the mat. I've talked that decision pretty in depth with some friends who are close to the sport and the only conclusion we could come to is that Charles was simply overwhelmed in the moment and defaulted to what he knew best. Islam probably hit a lot harder or countered him more easily than he expected and he wasn't comfortable on the feet
