  • How did Rose and Carla not get the bonus over chandler? Chandler only put tony to sleep, rose and Carla put everyone in the arena to sleep. Far more impressive.

      @mtadc1545@mtadc15452 жыл бұрын
    • Exactly. This is the same Tony as ever - fast, diverse, pressuring, just he’s fighting at a level he never fought at before. He has shit boxing defence and not good against elite grapplers. He went all his career without fighting Khabib, Poirier, McGregor or Alvarez. Think about that. All these years and a 12 fight win streak yet never fought those guys. He got dropped by Vannata, he got outpointed by Michael “50/50” Johnson, (MJ KO’d Dustin, but anyone can lose to one punch, Tony got beat across 3 rounds) he was 1-1 vs Cowboy heading into the final round. He was always very good, just never great. Gaethje, Chandler, Dariush and Oliveira are objectively the best guys he’s ever fought and he lost to them all. If it had been Chandler or Gaethje he fought that night instead of Vannata, his win streak would’ve ended 6 years ago. Speed is the first thing to go and he looked fast as f*ck last night, meaning he isn’t losing due to being over the hill. Always very good, but never great.

The card was balanced out with 2 extremely great fights and 2 boring ones. Vicious kick KO ever seen on par with Anderson Silva. Namajunas vs Esparza was as entertaining as these in video ads.

    • Well said. Didn't even think about that aspect. Olivera really did spend zero time with gaging Gaethje. He whole-heartedly believed in his ability to fully FULLY mix it up. No wasting time. Especially in the 1st round of a championship fight. Put it on 'em. Put 'em down. Put on the belt I think Gaethje's still contemplating "wtf just happened?"

      @rootherhymejedi9871@rootherhymejedi98712 жыл бұрын
    • I think Oliveira has two secret weapons: first, if he is hurt or dropped, he'll just drop into guard: guys won't follow him cuz his BJJ is that dangerous, so when Charles get hurt he basically has a position to sit and recover before the ref stands it up- this allows him much more confidence on the feet. Secondly, if he hurts an opponent even a LITTLE, he won't go to G&P (which guys will often survive), but instead slide seamlessly into a sub, which on a dazed opponent he will finish basically 100% of the time. It's like he's changing the rules of the sport with his style, its crazy

      @julianmarx2002@julianmarx20022 жыл бұрын
    • I didn't even think of the use of the 2-3 knock downs Olivera was hit with, as a methodical recovery aspect. Brilliant!!!!! When Olivera got knocked down multiple times, rather than try to stay standing up or jump up quick, he used his jui-jitsu position on his back to recover, get his bearings & equilibrium, let his vision adjust, if needed, & then gets a safe return to his feet, since the ref steps in. I'm thinking, even if someone tried to control Olivera on the ground, they are rolling the dice & taking a chance of becoming submitted & if they choose not to, he's already got the recovery time on his back. Critics can say what they want about Olivera getting knocked down, but it's what he does with getting knocked down, that separates his fight IQ, from other fighters IQs.

EDIT- Charles has the size to live with Khabib. Clearly a much more powerful, rangier & diverse striker, and if it hits the ground no matter under what circumstances or what round, he could end Khabib night in 10 seconds. I’m not saying he would win but it would without a doubt be Khabibs biggest challenge.

He showed he really has so much ability left in him. I'm just glad he is okay with how he landed on his neck, guys can get paralyzed like that in football and stuff. I hope he just brushes off any nonsense fans that give up on fighters when fighters take risks. If someone is showing more signs of being done, that's when you talk about things but Tony is still looking really good. I thought he did great in the first round. It was like opposite of what Chandler vs Olivera was. So I hope he just rolls with it. (2nd, I can not believe that they took away Rose's belt over that fight? No one won that, it should have been a draw, rose should of kept her belt, she didn't "Lose" her belt in my opinion.) (3rd Charles Olivera shouldn't of lost his belt over .5 of a pound! And not even be able to win it back by winning this fight.. plus fighters were talking bout the scale ⚖️ and they really need to get rid of the human aspect of adjusting a manual old scale.. he shouldn't be punished that bad. Especially when if he actually has a chance of actually weighing 155 but that scale was off... Idk) what a crazy situation for all this...

If precision and accuracy is what u want. Old fashioned scale is stupid when u have a reader there too for a 0.5 incremental scale balance leveling.
