Shogun is probably one of the last of the old school fighters that are still fighting at the UFC. respect.
Arlovski
Werdum is gone also
Overeem
Reem is the only one still ranked
AsinLoveyunz.link
Probably the most consistently entertaining fighter at LHW ever. His run through the 2005 Grand Prix in Pride was my favorite experience as a fan of mma.
imo he is the second most exciting lhw of all time. Wanderlei was just like him but more vicious
Yea man those were the days
Same. It's what got me into this sport as a kid. Watching the Pride reruns on Spike... Good times. I wish we could've seen the real Shogun in the UFC. The knee injuries really limited him. Still became champ even without some of his best weapons though
@@gigglesworthproductions4032 I think shogun gave better beatings wanderlai looked more intimidating
@A & G I agree. Shogun was a better fighter but Wanderlei fought more wrecklessly and more exciting but both were awesome
Let's be honest he's a future hall of famer
No ones arguing
He already is, by means of his fight with Hendo
I'm sure everybody knows that
AsinLoveyunz.link
Let’s lie, he won’t... 🥴
*The guys a legend, its a shame people seem to forget all the iconic moments and achievements after a few losses down the years. These legends need to be remembered...*
Him, Renato Sobral, Ricardo Arona are the guys that got me into it. Pioneers of the sport, they're a big part of MMA making it global.
Pride 😥
Proper legend, he came on the scene like a tornado, fighters couldn't believe he was fkin them up. Smashed overeem twice, that's no joke. Full props.
@@marksheppard4475 He’s in my favourite fight of ALL TIME, Hendo vs Shogun. I remember watching it live and being so excited the entire way through witnessing such a blast. Will never forget that.
Hendo never beated Rua in my eyes fuck those judges
Shogun Rua deserves to enter the UFC Hall of Fame
All the old man legends like werdum, vitor......etc

His run in Pride was the best single year of any MMA fighter in the sports history!
Yeah he has an underrated highlight real
PRIDE FOREVER!!!
kzhead.info/sun/p8quZpuZf6N8apE/bejne.html
Very true. That year I became a fan. When he was young he was all action and he always goes for the kill
Yup, that 2005 run was insane, and all in 4 months, jones also had a great year, bader, shogun, rampage, machida. but I still prefer shoguns year to be most legendary.
Shogun is 5-1-1 in his last Fights. What a Legend..
Yeah he had a good low key recent run. It’s so damn stressful to watch him tho lol. He takes a lot of hits these days
@@devadasn also he looked stiff
He should be 6-1 in his past 7 fights, I thought he did enough the beat Craig the first time. Good thing though is that they get another opportunity to settle the score.

@@jundialhaqiqa9907 p
When he beat Rampage all of Asia went crazy !!! True champ hope he calls it a day and doesn’t keep going... enough is enough
He loves it, also 1 loss in his last 7 since 2014 against good competition cant blame him for keeping going still in his 30s somehow
@@andruddy8229 Yeah, he is just so slow now and he gets beat up even when he wins. My favorite fighter ever, but I don't wanna see him become a vegetable at 50.
Shogun in his prime was a monster
He was, until he met Jon Jones. He was never the same after that.
@@H.K.5 One look at the Shogun that went in against Jones and you knew he wasn't the same even before the fight. I think his knees were so shot at that point no surgeries could save them. They held out just long enough for him to beat Machida. If the same Shogun that fought Liddell and Machida went in against Jones it would not have been so one sided of a fight. Don't get me wrong, Jones still would have won, he's the LHW GOAT and a freak, but Shogun would have at least given him a decent fight unlike the beat down we saw.
@@H.K.5 nope because he's been rehabing his knee before that fight happened
@@H.K.5 it always sucks to see fighters have that one fight that changes them. I remember wanderlei being completely different after being flatlined by cro cop
@@joshua_ito silva had been through so much up until that point, that nasty kick from cro cop must have did a serious concussion....
PRIDE never die
Me: How many times have you been knocked out? Overeem: Yes.

Chuck: "Yes."
@Raja Araib Altaf aáá A Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa asa a5
Me: How many times you want to get impregnated? Your mother: Yes
@Raja Araib Altaf at least he was entertaining when he was on the juice
Fun fact about shogun, in Brazil he's "our Miocic". Sometimes it's simply impossible to understand what he spoke.
I didn't know that. You speak his language?
Lmao
@@dankk2754 I lmao'd your mother. She thanked me.
@@plisskennn i dont think you know what lmao is
Bem verdadeiro eu como brasileiro nem sei 90 % do tempo nem tenho a mínima idea o oque que ele tá falando
Shogun is My favorite fighter.
I’m sure Wanderlei Silva told Shogun to clinch Rampage
They knew rampage had a rib injury also
Shogun in 2005 for Pride was one of the best ever years for any fighter in MMA, knocked out Arona, Overeem and beat Lil Nog for the Pride Middleweight Grand Prix, and destroyed a Prime Rampage Jackson that same year. Without injuries he would have been top 3 MW/LHW of all time
Shogun is one of the best to ever do it in the sport. Its amazing how many years Shogun has been active,100% LEGEND!
Shogun has been my favorite fighter since I started watching MMA back in pride. I teared up watching him win the belt and the only fighter I would love to meet! It'll hit me when he retires...
A humble person. Epitome of a true fighter and sportsman
His pride dominance is still one of the best runs/campaigns i've seen in MMA to date. What a legend.
I like how he was 5'10" and the next fight he was 6'1"
I feel the pride era and early ufc were the golden years of MMA, because back then there were still some unknown things when it comes to the styles of fighting but the fighters were already at a very high level.
PRIDE NEVER DIES!
Jon Jones put a beating on him like he never trained MMA in his life. He lost his pride.
Show me that affliction tee boomer! 🍻
@@plisskennn No he didn't.
Pride is pride Man!!

My favorite fighter! That 2005 Pride Grand Prix is the ultimate tournament ever!
One of the best ever.
Shogun vs Henderson, wauw!
Such an awesome, humble, complete fighter. True warrior spirit.
His soccer kick was legend
Time lines are dope for educating casuals 😂
timlins iri dipi fir idiciting cisils mimimi
Won the UFC title 6 years after his prime
The more I watch Shogun vs Henderson 1... the more I remain convinced that it may be the best non-title fight between established veterans in MMA history.
Plus was a draw really
@Douche Monkey yes mate , he definitely was winning the rematch but the h - bomb detonated and rearranged shogun's nose lol
Rua won that
prime shogun was a finisher and beat lots of legends in there prime.
I love Machida, but shogun taking the title from him was my favorite comeback moment in mma history, and it sounds like the crowd agreed. That was thunderous. Edit: (career comeback)
Never a bad fight if Shoguns involved.
Proud Shogun fan checking in. I know what I see: he's not nearly the same fighter he was 10-15 years ago (which goes without saying). Having said that, he's 5-1-1 in the past 5 years. A lot of that is matchmaking, sure, but his heart has certainly played a role. Every one of those fights was very close, aside from the L to Smith.
*SHOGUN and WANDERLEI are LEGENDS !!! I miss the good old Chute Boxe days.* *Shogun was robbed in first of the Machida and Hendo fights !!!*
jesus christ the speed of the ground punch on Overeem... in the slowmo replay it was still just instant... wow
Been a fan since started watching mma as a young boy, one of the best to ever do it! Thank you for all the years
3:23 "this Mauricio Shogun, 23 years of age, undefeated..." **Foreshadowing**
My guy still has a fight left on his UFC contract. He has seen the evolution of MMA from the Pride days to the UFC. Shogun is MMA no matter what people say 🔥
Chute box is MMA. Any of those guys from that era
This man is a damn legend he beat the best and when he lost he came back better he now stands older and near the end of his carrer but he will forever in my mind be one of the greates light heavyweights of all time in my opinion he was the third greates light heavyweight with jones and dc in front but a part from that....legend all the way through
People forget but his run before the ufc was legendary. Too bad his brother ninja never came to the ufc. I think he would have made it to the top in his prime
One of my favourite fighters. Absolutely legend
Shogun deserves a spot amongst the greatest of all time
Absolute legend. Thats also an understatement!
Pride entrances were the best

Watching Wanderlei clap and cheer for Shogun is bomb. This was during the reign of Chute Boxe in Pride, and man they had some killers.
Let's go Mauricio! Win or lose, always my favorite fighter. Definitely needs to be in the HOF for UFC Champions.
Nothing but respect for this great legend!🙏
He influenced my life more than any other fighter
There were fighters back in the day that just wanted a war. Wanderlei Silva, Robbie Lawler, Shogun Rua, etc. I miss those types.
My first favorite fighter when I was a kid. What a legendary warrior
i have always been fan of him especialy when he fought in prid. he was so good with socer kicks
I miss the old school UFC days!

The legend shogun rua
I started watching MMA because of Shogun. Legend
I been a shogun fan since his first fight in pride
My favourite of all time
The best fighter
He and Hendo delivered two fights in the UFC which are, to me anyway, the true best fights in UFC history : especially their first clash. Anyway. Shogun is a living legend with a massive legacy behind him. He entered mma world as a warrior, and he will leave mma as a legend. Amen Shogun ! 🙌💯
Holy fuck Shogun is amazing, the power🤯💯💯
This man is beast made the term shogun. Popular
Shogun pre knee surgeries was an all time great. Injuries took a toll on his athleticism.
One of my favourite fighters when I first got into mma back in 2010 just wish he retires now hes not the same
Shogun in his prime was an absolute gift. That Grand Prix run in 05 was the kind of run they write for movies. He’s had a good stint in the UFC as a whole becoming their LHW champ and all but the older fans know that the UFC got Shogun as he was beginning to fade. Would have loved to have seen Shogun and Jones go at it in their respective primes. Would’ve been a much better, back and forth fight than what we got I think.
@.the legend Shogun rua...👍👍
The best rua....
...cant deny how good he was, please understand why its time to call it soon. You are forever in the hall of fame just be able to enjoy it.
Shogun was a different breed man 😳 all the names on his list 👀
Pride 205lbs grand-prix tournament of 2005 was stacked from all top fighters and shogun ran through everybody. That was special and the legend was born that night.
UFC Champ Pride Champ. Nothing left to prove.
