Schnell leaving his opponent unconscious covered in blood after getting lit up all fight was the most gangster moment this year if not comeback of the year
I had a roller coaster of emotions watching that fight. I was mad because Schnell kept getting rocked with the same elbow, then excited when he stunned Sumadarji and took him down and started dropping those nasty elbows and back to being mad when he Suma reversed position and back to excited when Schnell submitted him. We also gotta thank Moltalvo for not stopping the fight.
Agreed
That was a great fight, that's why the lighter weight classes are so entertaining
Any other year it's an easy win of comeback of the year. Usman getting dropped won't make me upset if it wins but this schnell fight earns it!
My friends hate schnell they lost so much money on that fight lmao
Leon's comeback is easily the winner. Literally everything about that comeback was insane, the corner speeches, the 5th round KO, the commentary and the fact that he Ko'd Usman for the belt. It could easily be the end of a movie.
The interview. "Pound for pound, what?"
Yeah don't forget the octagon interview, that was the icing on the cake. Guy got a lot of shit for being boring, no charisma etc. Had to almost clean out the division to get a title shot, if he lost that one it would of taken years for him to get another shot - if ever. He pulled everything out of the fire.
There's also a video of Cejudo and Ali sitting ringside saying how it's easy money for Usman. You can hear Leon's corner shout "head kick now Leon" then the crowd erupts as Leon KO's Usman with the head kick. Everything about that finish was mental.
In terms of the moment, level of fighting and stakes I agree but against actual odds in a fight I say Schnell. It is absolutely insane how he came back after getting cracked that many times. He’s smaller, head spinning, blurry vision and much more was against him in the cage.
Lies again? Unsung Heroes AVA IT
It’s gotta be between Edwards and Schnell for me. Both fights had me speechless
@@0xDEAD-C0DESo not Edwards? Edwards was easily the best. Considering he was being dominated all fight and Usman is one of the best in the UFC P4P
7:04 Anyone who makes DC make weird noises deserves the up most respect 😂
Edwards has a lot of heart he's so technical that you don't realize how tough he is
@@jjw4646 I don't know why the narrative has changed he beat Usman in round 1 it was 1-3 heading into the fifth for sure not great haha but he won a round people keep saying "he lost every minute", "he was thoroughly dominated" it was for sure a comeback but Leons made differently he's built for these moments
@@ryanodonnell455 agree….and he managed to avoid damage. Finish was so well measured, good for him
The face to face after round 4 between Edwards and his coach is the ultimate Rocky moment right there. Considering he was basically losing the fight, the belt on the line, opportunity of a lifetime after so long, his history with Usman…HAS to be comeback of the year
100% not even a contest
Almost brings me to tears hearing that and seeing what he did after
fight of the year for me even
the belief he had in his fighter is unbelievable you could tell he has 100% belief in his fighter, no 99%, but 100%.
everyone was expecting 5 more minutes of Usman outworking Edwards. I think also that it was one huge kick that completely shut the lights off Usman makes it even better, if he had just rocked him and finished up with ground and pound, it would have been a less spectacular comeback.
They should have included Dober vs McKinney in this list. That fight was fireworks
Terrance gassed himself out trying to knock out Dober lmao 😂
Bobby green vs dober too was a crazy comeback
@@paulocostaswine.1909 Not as crazy though since Bobby was tagging him sure but Drew wasn't out of the fight at all
@@paulocostaswine.1909 wouldnt even call that a comeback, thats what comes with being a power puncher.
@@scottc2076 Dober's chin looks like he has plate armor on his chin
The most impressive part of Leon’s comeback is that he was dead exhausted from Usman’s pace and the altitude, and he still managed to find a way.
usmans glove grabbing skills really saved him in 1st round
@@jheimala really?
@@ifyano9731 I really like Usman as a fighter but he cheated a lot during the Leon fight. A lot of cage grabs and glove grabbing
@@matthewcrismond5421 you know who also grabbed the fence in that fight?.. Leon Edwards.. you know who also grabs gloves and cages in fights? Conor McGregor.. you know which fighter who have never grabbed the fence in fights? Almost no MMA fighter.. so if you have never been locked in an octagon for a fight, keep your Usman is a cheater argument to yourself
@@ifyano9731 correct me if I’m wrong but when Leon grabbed the cage the referee stopped them and gave the td. Am I right? I’m Liz don’t compare Usman to mcg… kamaru is a true champion and fighter
Gregory Rodriguez comeback is very underrated, no one is paying attention, it's unreal what he did coz he got rocked and was left battered after Round 1. That being said Edwards ko on an Usman who no one thought was beatable when it mattered in Round 5 of a title bout was massive! The talk his corner gave him before the last round started and he looked a defeated man before getting him with a head kick out of nowhere that knocked him straight out was CRAZY!
So many great comebacks in major fights, but Robocop coming back from nearly fight ending knee and a should have been fight ending cut to finish the way he did was truly one of greatest rallies you'll ever see.
On the low end Greg wins it, high end Leon
In the fifth round after taking all that damage, Edwards gets respect
You mean head kick
@@preest_nz that's what I said
Matt Schnell gets my vote, he did that for his passed away mother as well. Adds so much of it for me. Sumerdarji hit him with everything and schnell put it all back too him. Warriors
🥂
I've never screamed so much at my screen when he mounted and started dropping elbows holy fking shit lol
He was dazed so many times and recovered like a pro. So tough
Leon Edwards for Most UFC Thumbnails of 2022 😂well deserved, though.
It's crazy how a year ago, nobody cared about him and now he's one of the most popular champions. You can't not be happy for him.
@@Mr__Peanuts And everyone mocked him every time he called for a title shot.
@@TehUltimateSnake and people are still disrespecting him by saying that he was getting battered in that fight but I think some people forget that he was the first man to take Usman down. He also severely earned Usman's respect on the feet during the fight hence why he was trying to clinch so much.
@@Mr__Peanuts He was so underrated back then; Now every UFC fan says "Headshot, DEAD!!" along with him
@@Mr__Peanuts I wouldn't say he's one of the more popular champion, but fans are definitely appreciating what Leon accomplished and rightfully so. Its one of the most iconic moments in MMA history and he'll always be remembered for it, irrespective of what happens next in his career.
This year has been so crazy with all these 5th round comebacks
Still can’t get over Leon finishing Usman💀
Leon rocky Edwards all day... goosebumps every time
All comebacks are crazy 🔥
They are. Amazing rollercoaster of energy and violence
Schnell was rocked like 3 times back to back in the same round and bounced back to get the dub via grit and pressure.
also shout out to dc screaming crazy when schnell got to full mount
Epic fight man
He got rocked at least 5 times
Schnell doesn't have a great chin but he has good recovery and a lot of heart.
I know it wasn’t a title fight, but watching that Schnell vs Sumufarji fight live, it really was the rally of all rally’s. Everything unfolded in a span of like 2 minutes.
Dc sounding like a goose in the schnell fight will always kill me 😂😂
Max schnell comeback up there as one of the best of 2022 the back n forth was crazy in this match and that finish...
Just give the damn prize to leon
😂 iKR!
Like seriously. Sick of this shit already. Why would u have other nominees and shit when we all know Leon is gonna get it?
It was the total package the build up, the invincibility of usman, the domination from r2 to r5, the corner cams, the kick into oblivion, and the raw emotion post fight. It had everything. Pinnacle of 2022 for me
Matt Schnell takes this 100%. How he survived that onslaught is unreal, he had no chance to recover between heavy blows and somehow managed to hang in there and turn it around.
Robocob is a scary dude. Eating that knee and coming back from that is mind blowing
imagine getting into a bar fight with that dude. You land your best punches, cut his face open and he's completely unfazed and ready to maul you.
Perrea and izzy went at it... I was shocked at Perreas toughness, after that stunning combo at the end of rd 1.. both took shots.. fight of the year.
100%
Fight of the year was def Leon vs Kamaru
I think you mean comeback of the year. This fight was boring. I was dozing off until the KO in the late 5th.@@jayherbo
Leon's comeback for the ko win is one of the best moments I've witnessed in my 18 years of watching mma religiously
The thing that shocked me about Alex a lot is the backstory and also seeing how everything led up to this. Izzy was phenomenal as a champion successful title defenses for some of the best at middleweight and even though there were a few times you could argue, he played it safe man went out and did what he had to do. Then you look at Alex who was basically working his way into the mixed Martial arts game comes into the UFC not only wins Three fights, but manages to not only dethrone Adesanya, but takes the belt in his fourth fight that to me is a crazy story.
Luck was in his favor that night fs
Izzy will avenge this defeat in the rematch. Mark my words.
@@yogi2983 Nah, he won't. And, if anything, Poatan deserved it.
it was over once alex checked that leg kick in the 5th round
Izzy will win every round but Alex only need a second to win. That power is an equalizer.
I think Leon is cleaning house with these awards. Knockout of the year, comeback of the year, fighter of the year, best post fight interview ...etc
“Headshot. Dead. That’s it.” - Leon “Rocky” Edwards
I was there for the matt schnell fight and let me tell you, that atmosphere in there was the crazy thing I've ever attended. It was awesome, especially because the main event got messed up because of Ortega shoulder so that was like the biggest moment of the whole event. I was glad I was there for it
Gregor coming back was exceptional. I remember watching that fight and I thought he lost after the first round but when I saw him come back I realized that the middleweight division is I'll be very underrated division and once the guys build up in that division it's going to be very scary, No One Is Safe in that...
These fight's are decided on a nano second that drilled right by adsanya in round one was beautiful 10 more seconds and he would still be champion seem's to be the story of adsanya life fighting alex pereira
Like when the ref saved Alex in their 2nd fight. Alex is not as good as everyone is making him out to be.
@@breadnaut3087 totally agrees dawg any grappler and its end game's adsanya took em down with ease think what a crutch sniffer will do..
Schnell gets it for me. He got rocked about 5 times in that second round, ends up rocking dude and choking him out in the same round
He did it again! HE DID IT AGAIN!!!
Leon Edwards' was sh*t straight out of a movie Goosebumps every time
All those highlights are insane. I enjoyed and appreciated every second of each fight. Hats off to the athletes. Crazy.
matt schnell no doubt
Jiri and Glover??
Pereira vs Adesanya is one of my favorite fights of all time, such a huge disparity in the grappling and striking ability was interesting and every part of it was so fun
The way Glover celebrates with Pereira.............what a great moment for both! For the comeback..............It´s to close for me to call between Rodriguez, Schnell and Edwards.
Matt Schnell, Rodriguez ❤️
The Schell Sumudjari fight was insane, remember watching that live thinking WTF
Edward's chin is underrated. Took all of Usman's best shot and face looked clean after it all
That Schnell fight was a prime display of "never give up". He left his opponent bloodied and out cold on the ground after being destroyed himself. Inspiration on how to live your life! Leave all of those suckers behind and take what is yours. The translation between these fights and real life is so beautiful.
Edwards is everything of the year!!
matt has to get that , that dude was basically dead got rocked 3 times just to put his opponent unconscious
Leon’s win made me the happiest
Honorable mention: John Castenada vs. Daniel Santos. Santos looked like a bantamweight version of Do Bronx in that fight
Leon will win because that is a more known fight but, man, Schnell one is definitely the most wild comeback
“POUND FOR POUND, HEADSHOT DEAD”. What a fucking movie man holy shit. Chills everytime. It’s the greatest comeback of all time.
"That is not the cloth from which he is cut" God I love that line
that sequence with schnell to finish with a triangle is nuts
Maaaan.. I completely missed out on that Schnell fight! damn
Leon Edwards comeback was the best for me however I enjoyed watching every comeback on this list live 2022 was the year for comebacks
Alex Pereira R1😵💫✨ Israel Adesanya R5😵💤 what a comeback
It was pretty cool but I’m still not sure if ref should have called it. He was definitely still moving and weaving. As soon as ref stopped it adesanya popped up normal and was clearly upset with the call
@@KadenDressel Dude was going to be put to sleep look at his eyes.
@@superavennation So was Matt Schnell by that logic
Paul fielder said it himself, I watched that fight live schnell fight was the most insane comeback especially the way he slept him with the triangle.
The motivational speech did it for me. Edwards’s come back was out of a movie.
Leon should of got fighter, comeback, and ko of the year
Leon fought once this year lmao why would he get fighter of the year? I agree with ko and comeback of the year tho
Leon didnt seem like he was not hurt in those exchanges. That's why he was able to keep his power towards even the final stages of the fifth
What’s interesting about the Edwards-Usman fight was I said previously that Usman was going to let a lot of head kicks hit because of his closed guard and the fact that he never changed his guard and I put this on Twitter, saying if Edwards could land the head kick, he could win. I didn’t think he’d send Usman to sleep with his last-chance kick after getting dominated but you can’t say it was a complete shock when you look back and see how Usman struggles to defend vs head kicks. I swear Colby even landed some similar to Edwards’ and Usman never recognised that hole in his defence.
Leon on Usman and Perreira on Adesanya deserve equally No.1 Both guys dethroning their so dominant weight kings after amazing fights. It's impossible to choose.
I think you can't read well, it's called comeback of the year not "most significant ko in a title fight". Imo Schnell or Edwards deserve it, but i think that Procházka should be included in the list too.
Words can’t express how much i love the UFC
Автор, спасибо за твою работу. 🙏 Выпуск, пушка. Столько я пропустил этих новостей. От души!❤️
The only right answer in my opinion is Schnell. That fight was easily a top 3 overall fight in 2022 and was the absolute best comeback I have ever seen.
Leon’s comeback isn’t just comeback of the year - it’s the greatest comeback in UFC history
Alex was like "Oops! I did it again, I played with your heart" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
“I want Izzy vs Alex!!” Mom: we have Izzy vs Alex at home Izzy vs Alex at home: 0:30
L
Proud to say I saw the schnell and izzy fight live. Highlight of my year without a doubt
damn bro i missed that matt schnell one. that was insane
Robot cop's come back was one of the best. Glover vs Jiri needs to be in the list I think. Glover was ahead in the score cards.
Rodriquez was a beast!
🔥🔥🔥
“We were writing his orbituary! “ Look at me now! Leo Edwards!
I'm just gone take a minute to appreciate the beats 🎶 😎 that are accompanying these fine clips🙏☝️😊💪😤. *_Thanks EDITING TEAM!_*
Leon's is Legendary.
Matt schenell hands down he got dropped like a bad ex over n over but came back won that fight . Insane
Can we all just give a round of applause for the first two guys who displayed some of the most evenly matched heart I've ever seen in a fight?
It's got to go to Schnell. the Perrera and edwards fights were so much more even than Schnell almost being finished a million times then finishing him. Izzy and snoozman could have ran/snoozed their way to a decision, whereas Schnell was on the verge of death.
It’s Schnell vs Su, not even close. Most outrageous comeback since Frankie Edgar v Grey Maynard 2.
That Su vs Matt fight was fuckin craaaaaazy! Should've gotten more exposure!
Alex might have won the belt fair and square but I'm still confused because he did not deserve that title shot to begin with after beating sean strickland get real
The story sells. If he was just another kickboxer without the history with Izzy he’d still be unranked. But Dana and the brass knew if they played their cards right the rivalry will sell big. And it worked
The Schnell fight was insane! So glad I watched it. 👏🏽
Anyone know the background track?
5:05 That fight was amazing!!How was that guy even standing after all those elbows 😮😮 What a durability !! AND HE WON AT THE END 😮
That head kick was a moment I will never forget. Seemed surreal
amazing👍
rewatching the izzy perreira and usman edwards those were high level fighting like a bunch of snipers shooting each other
“Headshot, DEAD!” NGL that’s smooth af
i’ll never not get goosebumps from that leon edwards ko
WHAT A KO ! Congrat Edwards, your futur will be just fine. I was so happy for you that day ! my god, what a head kick !
Leons head kick gives me chills every single time
Chama 🔥
Elbows in the clinch underrated
Schnell wins for sure. Ref was so close to stopping it on so many occasions. Then leaves his opponent motionless on the canvas and walks away covered in blood.
Robocop got split open and we could see the wires and steel underneath
I remember that Rodrigues fight it was a badass fkn fight!!!
Matt Schnell should win. He was getting pieced up on the feet beforehand he turned it around and the fight as a whole was amazing. With Leon the fight was pretty lackluster up to the big knockout and there was no time when Leon was actually hurt. You could make an argument for Rodrigues, but the fight was at the Apex so no way it would be better than the other ones with a crowd.
“Headshot dead” coldest line ive heard in a while
all fantastic fights!
Alex is a bad dude man - been following his career and you could see this moment coming !!!
Schnell even had to tell the ref 🔥💪
jiri prochazka vs glover teixeira not included?
So good letsss gooo 🔥👊
Give that ish to Schnell. That fight was amazing
