There's a reason Stipe and Jones will go down as the greatest of their generation meanwhile DC will be nothing more than a honorable mention. To be the best you have to beat the best which he couldn't do when it mattered most. I'm saying this as someone who has respect for DC.

It's funny because DC actually accomplished more than Jones from the time after they fought twice. He became the LHW champ, sure Jon was away but its still in the history books, became the Heavyweight Champion, has his show on ESPN with Ariel, has become a UFC commentator at the fight nights but also the big UFC events, does Media rounds for the UFC and is now loved by MMA fans, other fighters and celebrities. I bet Jones would want all that too. The only thing that Jones could say is that he beat him twice at LHW with sketchy PED suspicions.

He is probably the most universally loved character in the sport. I mean 2 seconds in and I'm smiling. He is a perfect role model, coach and father. He knows when it's time for a joke and when it's time to work, and when he gives people a hard time it's all in the spirit of fun and playfully trying to make them improve.

Then when he lost the second fight to Stipe he complained about Stipe having eye surgery to repair the damage from getting poked in the eyes during his previous 2 fights which happened to be against DC; but refused an immediate rematch the 🐐 of the UFC HW division beat Stipe after the eye gauges led to the 1st rd KO in their first encounter. Magnanimous is definitely a word that I wouldn’t use. And of course he went down in weight. He was calling out the champ. Jones wasn’t calling him out.

Love DC!! The only exception is when he's trying to play company guy, navigating all of the narratives and boundaries of what you can and cannot say (sounds very forced) AND when he talks Jon Jones. We know it's not authentic (trying to be unbiased). I didn't like the place DC went when he was too focused on hating Jon Jones. He had no mastery and control of the force (unbalanced) when focused on JJ.
