  • Don’t be fooled by Leon’s relaxed demeanour. Inside he has true grit and clever tactical awareness. He’s not shabby in the skills section either! Now we’ll see them fight on a level playing field, although Usman is the favourite to win, Leon will give it everything he’s got. Both are at the top of their game but I’m rooting for Rocky Edwards to pull off another sensational win.

    @Proxima2@Proxima2 Жыл бұрын
    • I'm thinkin Leon via submission this time

      @petefunk@petefunk Жыл бұрын
    • @@petefunk Yes, I think if/when Leon wins, it'd be via a lower/knee kick (that badly compromise the big man's bad knees) or a submission. As the saying goes: it is what you don't see coming that hurts you the most. If Usman anticipated that head kick from Leon, like Leon also delivered in their first fight (which was explicitely discussed here, too), he would have blocked it with his right arm, like that kick of Leon's that Usman successfully block, first fight. But Usman didn't see that last kick coming, because the SET-UP Leon did was way too believable... and so Usman wanted to "get away" from that fast approaching fist; but instead, it's a decoy: the real kill shot was that left foot of Leon's that's already airborn and would arrive 1/100 of a second after that decoy fist. Now, a whole bunch of silly KZhead experts are babbling about "that lucky head kick that would never land again," Leon & Team LIKELY are working on the NEXT sudden-fight-ending kill shot that they TOTALLY never talk about in public, not once, since that last fight: (#1) chopping down the big, powerful wrestler's bad knees (notice how Usman could only methodically shuffle forward: he physically just can't make sudden directional changes, because those are harsh on is bad knee joints) of (#2) going for a BJJ maneuver on the mat, by timing a take-down from Usman. Leon, coaches, fans, analysts... EVERYONE knows Usman WILL take Leon down at some point. The trick is, as the great anaylst SAYIF SAUD here said, for Leon to MOVE FORWARD WITH PRE-EMPTIVE tactical maneuvers of his own... NOT always reacting to what the great wrestler is going to do from his side. Even as a BROWN BELT, which was what Leon was, when he took Usman's back and came within a few hair of sinking into his neck, Leon's BJJ is much better than Usman's black belt. Now, Leon too is a legit back belt. Now, as a black belt, as the champ, & being even more confident, more skilled, & more prime than both the first two times combined, Leon & Co should be able to come up with 1 or 2 preemptive tactical & skilled-based counter move to overcoming Usman's great wrestling and sheer strength. As Mr. Saud here said: just keep reacting to Usman is NOT going to win Leon the fight; NOR is backing into the fence. It is now at Sea Level (with no oxygen deprivation excuses, real or imaginary), and with youth, longer legs, and more speed & agility on his side, Leon should be moving in circles around the inner octagon region at all times... so if/when a take-down from Usman is successful, there ARE PLENTY OF ROOMS to do defensive scrambles & offensive BJJ maneuvers, even from the bottom . Ideally, Leon should do GSP types of fast, tactical, preemptive tackles as much as possible, to make sure Usman understand that two can play the game, even if in pure standing wrestling, he has superior skills to Leon: in opportunistic, GSP tackles, Leon should have NO PROBLEM taking the big man down...

The left headkick followed by the left cross is a fun combo to land on wrestlers. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Mind you, he needs to work on his grappling to keep his back off the cage. Underrated fight imo.

Because obviously Trevor won't show the real training but I feel like Usman should be in a camp where he's based all in wrestling. Because trying to sharper your striking at 36, it's not a good idea. Usman will never been a great striker. & At this point, he should be grinding whatever meat he has in his ears, off for this camp..
