  • Translation of the questions asked in Russian (the end of the video) “Key Khamzat, in the first round you managed to successfully wrestle with Gilbert, but later on you did not really try to take him down, why is that? Did you feel any kind of threat or your coaches set a particular goal? - “No, there was no threat for me. The initial plan was to show him some wrestling and my strength in that department so would second guess himself and allow me to beat him up easier. All in all, I wasn’t in danger. - “You dropped him with the jab first, why do you think you couldn’t finish him after that and how close do you feel you were to doing that? - “I don’t know, I don’t even remember how close I was. I recall that I dropped him and wanted to go for a finish, but then I figured that he starts swinging and I couldn’t find the target properly, that’s why I thought of allowing him to stand up and try to knock him down (out) again. It is what it is (about how it eventually went down). - “What about your interaction with Gilbert’s children, did it happen before the fight and what (how) happened? - Yeah, I met them in the hotel the day before the fight. I went down to the lobby and they were passing by and said:” oh it’s you who fights our daddy”. I was like: “oh shit, I am not really willing to see (somebody’s) children right before the fight, you know, think about his (Gilbert’s) family. I am an emotional guy and it’s hard for me to see kids at fights. I would never bring my own children to (see) fights.

He took some killer shots from burns and showed us his metal. I cant wait till that one guy comes along and beats him if nothing more than making him show how much he really does care. I think it is really just how his English translates. He, chimaev, has such a smooth game especially in his transitioning. • Reasons why khamzat lived up to the hype. 1. Came out of no where and hung with #2 in the world, not having fought a ranked fighter before. 2. Damn near finished burns in the first round like he dis everyone els he fought. He let him get up. 3. He’s 28 so has some years to improve. When a fighter reaches 35 we’ve seen the hight of there capabilities. Not much changes after that. Usman, Colby, and Burns are all 35 or approaching. 4. Got a taste what it felt like to go through a battle, now his coaches have a lot of material to work with they didn’t have before, for improving khamzat
